Every time I open Cubase, a screen pops up asking me to select the sound card driver, and the input/output in the audio connection will be reset, but the Control room will not be reset
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Is it the only setting which is reset?
yes,,yes,yes
Hi,
I can see, you have Universal Audio. There is a known issue with the latest UAD Console update, which hijack all MIDI devices.
I’m just asking myself if your issue might be related.
May I ask if you can help me? I am currently very troubled and I am in China. I rely on translation software to communicate with you, so some expressions may not be particularly accurate. Please understand; I have a friend around me who has encountered the same situation, and we all need someone to help us solve this problem. My computer system is Win11 25H2, the CPU is Intel 13900k, and the sound card is an old version of Apollo X8. I upgraded directly from Cubase13 to Cubase15, so both Cubase13 and Cubase15 exist in my computer. I wonder if providing this information can help you quickly find the problem. Thank you again
If it’s an issue with UAD, then I apologize for disturbing you
Hi,
I’m not sure. But it’s worth to try to install an older version of the UAD software.
I just went to the UAD forum to find a solution to hijack all MIDI devices and successfully installed the old version (without hijack all MIDI devices), but unfortunately, the issue with cubse15 still persists,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Hi,
Could you try to quit Cubase and rename both Cubase preferences folders. Then start Cubase 15, set it up, quit, and start again? Does the setting tension in this case?
May I ask where the preferences folders are? I rely on translation software to have a conversation with you, and some words are not translated accurately. I don’t understand the sentence ‘Does the setting tension in this case?’
If you turn off your active audio interface before you quit the Cubase application, this will happen. Close Cubase first and the audio configuration should be OK next time you open it.
Thank you for your method, but I have reopened Cubase countless times and it still remains the same. I have tried restarting my computer and the first thing I did was to start Cubase, but the problem persists`````````
OK, so you correct the audio setup, close Cubase, and when it starts again you get the pop-op asking to select the audio interface–even though your UAD was running the whole time. It wasn’t doing this with Cubase 13, right?
Maybe it is a Windows-specific issue. The folders Martin mentioned are C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase_Version_64 and C:\Users\<Your User Name>\Documents\Steinberg I would probably start off with just renaming the Cubase_Version_64 folder, so if it resolves the issue you’ll know where it was–but that’s just me.
Thank you for your help. I have already tried to change the folder name, and I have tried both of the folders you mentioned. After changing the folder name, it will generate a new folder and reset my Daw settings. The first time I changed the folder name to Cubase15, he did not pop up a window asking me to select the sound card driver. However, when I reached the interface for creating a new project, it automatically selected the Steinberg driver. Then I changed it to my UAD driver, and the next time I opened Cubase again, he still reminded me to select the new sound card driver, and the input/output configuration was also reset. Then I made a second attempt, and I added the “Cubase-15-64” and "The two folders’ Steinberg 'have both changed their names, unfortunately he still has the same problem
Thank you for your help, but since the Windows system is different from MAC, I tried to find the “Library/References in your home directory” corresponding to Mac in Windows. I tried to create “CA2ASIO” and “ignoreaudiodevice. txt” in different locations of the system, but it didn’t work. I also banned sound card drivers other than UAD, but still a window popped up asking me to choose a sound card driver
I have been having a similar issue since setting up my x6. I have to confirm my sound card which obviously is a Thunderbolt device. I know that Windows is not overly fond of Thunderbolt and given the difficulties I have had setting it up neither am I.
Yeah, I saw in the thread that the Windows guy deleted his post. ![]()
Did you try creating “CA2ASIO” folder in your Cubase 15 folder under “AppData/Steinberg/” and make sure that the device names matched exactly what they’re shown as in Cubase?
Yes, I have tried creating it in all the folders related to it that I can think of····
I have found the reason. The reason why the sound card driver selection window keeps popping up is because I have installed the foobar2000 software. After uninstalling it, the sound card selection window no longer pops up. However, the input/output will be reset, which is indeed a problem with Cubase
Actually, it is still possible to install ‘foobar2000’. When installing, choose not to install all decoders, not to install all outputs, and not to install a DSD converter. This way, there will be no DSD decoder driver in the system, and Cubase will not be able to read the DSD decoder. This will prevent the interface for selecting a sound card driver from popping up again
