Will there be a revision of the chord track editor one of these days?
I sometimes find it limited and inaccurate in the interpretation of chord symbols. Here is an example among many others: Gadd9 (G-B-D-A). The interpreter indicates G9 as a symbol. In music theory, this symbol implies the presence of a minor 7th in the chord. Since GMAJ9 implies a major 7th in the chord (MAJ = 7Maj / 9 = major 9), therefore, in this case, G9 does not represent the chord played at all. The closest alternative according to the interpreter would be Gsus2 which in reality would imply the disappearance of the third, B note.
Why in the list of tensions does not appear the symbol ADD?
Here is a standardization of the chord symbols used by a very large majority of musicians around the planet.
I remember being annoyed that I couldn’t make a fully diminished chord in the editor, until I found out that I had to select “root note”, “dim” and"6/13" …
Mistakes… I’m willing to accept that the software tries to interpret the layout of the chord’s voices as faithfully as possible, sometimes resulting in rather wacky chord symbols like D7/9 and there are worse sometimes.
However, in the midst of artificial intelligence, it should be smart enough to interpret a chord like G(add9) and write the symbol correctly, same thing for D7/9, because when there is a ninth in a major chord like D major, if there is the presence of a major third and a major ninth, the software should check if there is the presence of a minor 7th or not and deduce the correct symbol, D9 or D(add9).
I can understand that programming an intelligent tool is not an easy task, but there has been little movement on this subject for several versions, it might be time to refine the product.
