Plug-in compatibility with older Cubase projects

I quote from the read me PDF that came with Cubase 7. Page 9

Plug-in compatibility with older Cubase projects.
Some old plug-ins are no longer part of the Cubase
installation namely: HALion ONE, Monologue, Embracer and
Tonic.
Plug-ins from earlier Cubase versions are provided for
you on the Steinberg website in case required for
compatibility reasons.

Steinberg. Where is this. I have a project with extensive use of Tonic with automation. I need this plugin and it seems I’m not the only one. What alternative do we have?

Ran into the same issue since I use Tonic as well. If you still have 6/6.5 installed, you can simply copy the files as follows if using Windows 7:

Copy C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 6\VSTPlugins\Filter\Tonic.* to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 7\VSTPlugins\Filter

Or if you intend to keep 6.5 installed, point the VST 2.x Plugin Path to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 6\VSTPlugins\ from Devices > Plug-in Information.
