Plugin names - migrating from Windows "(x64)" to macOS

Last year I migrated from Cubase 12 on Windows to macOS. Recently upgraded to 13. Generally it’s been pretty painless (if you ignore the lack of support for VST2 plugins on M1).

The issue I have is on Windows, most of my plugins appear to have “(x64)” appended to the names, eg “ACE(x64)”. On macOS it’s just the name only, so my previous tracks complain about missing plugins even though I have all the same plugins installed.

If I simply load in the plugin again it obviously brings up a freshly initialised patch - it doesn’t apply the stored preset/knob positions to the plugin.

Does anyone know a workaround for this on macOS? Even if I could somehow view the preset name from the “missing” plugin that’d be useful. If Steinberg added some kind of plugin name aliasing I could imagine that could help going forward.

Hi,

As far as I know, Cubase doesn’t recognise the plug-in by name. It does it by the plug-in ID. So it depends on the plug-in vendor, if he is using the same ID on both platforms.
