I find I when I import musicxml (or midi) into a new document (rather than a template) I can use the library manager to make it look the way I want. (I know I can import into a new flow in an existing template but for some reason I don’t remember now, I like importing into a new document better, thus the frequent use of the library manager).
This I do not understand. If you have a template that looks the way you want, just create your new document using that template, then import the xml/midi.
To the team:
Here’s an idea: Why not have some kind of library manager preset (or being able to choose a set of settings) that gets applied automatically upon XML import?
It would save a few keystrokes and mouse clicks…
I can do “import xml” then use the library manager - 3 steps at most - to get it working. Your way I have to open the template, then import the xml which itself requires navigating to a different folder as dorico always opens in the appdata folder after loading a template (at least on windows), then delete the first flow as the import loads into the 2nd flow, For one import, your way works, but when I’m importing hundreds (as the OP was doing) of files, it’s quicker to use the library manager. In my case I do have a template that is exactly as I want it. I exported it as a library. If I’m starting a new project, of course I use the template, but for importing lots of files I find it to be a lot quicker use the library manager than the multi-step process of opening the template then importing, etc.
