If you don’t need things that are specific to the Master Section like Resampling and External Gear, you can use the montage output Effects section which easily stores everything with the .mon file, no extra work involved. This is what I do because I know when working quickly I will cause an issue with either loading or saving the correct Master Section preset. I just avoid the master section.
I’m sure some others will have a few tips/tricks for this but I don’t think the save/load process is as smooth as one would like.
If you look in the montage preferences there is an option for “Auto-Save Master Section Preset” which might help you somewhat. I think you still have to manually reload the Master Section Preset with a shortcut.

The Master Section can be saved with the Audio Montage. Even automatically.
The access is the star button at the button right corner of the montage window.
