Often I cant add the pitch wheel when recording.
Unfortunately it seems not to work with automatisation write to add it that way afterwards.
If I draw it in the automatisation I m getting lost as there is no 0 and optimal would be to have shown the semitones too. So I m not able to bring the synth back in tune again.
Hi Tim,
Are you using an external midi keyboard or the Cubasis keyboard and are you on iOS or Android ![]()
IOS, and often w/o keyboard. I have some but I know that my weakness is not using the assecories I have. That includes a Bluetooth Keyboard, headphones or monitor speakers. I m just enjoying making music and I mostly do it on the run. Also having no MPE support is a major pain in my ass, sorry for that expression and thanks for your support.
Cubasis Keyboard to make things straight
I m just too often on Business trip. All my hardware synth stays at home exept maybe one. Thats the reason why I use iPad. and I used Cubase first time maybe 40y ago on ATARI, even if i switched later the DAW. I m not thinking about to switch to logic but on the other hand I m not fully happy with cubasis.
My approach to setting pitch bend data to centre is by recording a short midi session and flick the pitch bend and let it return to its centre position, open the midi track and the last “+” recorded will be the exact central position (in tune), just copy this “+” and paste it at the start of the next note after a bend
Incidentally, press and hold the “+” gives a display of -
8192 on left side of midi event track (no bend)
4096 = down 1 semitone,
0 = down 2 semitones,
12288 = up 1 semitone,
16384 = up 2 semitones (this figure disappears from view and is a bug)
This is presuming your synth is set to 2 semitone -+ range
I have a pitch bend and mod wheel template set up as a dedicated project, it contains various 1 semitone and 2 semitone bends for both up/down directions, I have made them as slow bends and fast bends, I can open this project and copy any of the bend and mod wheel templates and paste them in my project I’m currently working on, saves so much time manually entering the data.
Both pitch bend and modulation is not possible with automation …. as you have already found out.
@Steinberg, Cant we have such marks in the automatisation roll?
@ fixitmania53 Thanks for the interesting work around
If it helps then all is good ![]()
Hi Tim,
I have added a link for you to download a Cubasis project that contains a pitch bend data template, all the info is included in the Notes tab.
Open the midi event track and just copy the type of pitch bend you require, re-open your existing project, open your midi track, select PITCH BEND on the left, set the curse line to the start of your bend position and tap PASTE.
Any problems just give me a shout ![]()
Here is a picture of the data
Only copy the data contained in each bar, you can then reposition the solitary “+” to the beginning of the following midi note to cancel the bend, do this by selecting it, tap copy, tap paste where required and delete original “+”.
Thanks a lot.
Meanwhile I got the information that you can add a track on the top (using record, not adding MIDI data but pitch bend and modulation). So it s a separate track but you re able to copy this CC information to the track with MIDI or the initial track if you prefer. Disclaimer…I had not the time to verify this procedure so I m not able to confirm that this works.
I m really missing Steinbergs statement. I m not sure if they work on an update, Cubasis 4 or if they abondon the product.
Cheers
But if I see your solution it might be the proof that what I heard might work.
Hi Tim,
Yes you can record pitch bend over the top of a midi track, but there is no need to copy and paste it to the original track, just tap SELECT (top left corner) and select both the original and new recording then tap the GLUE tab and all will be as one ![]()
Wow! Great! Thanks! That helps a lot! Even if I have not been back on that topic right now. I made my YouTube chanel: Music by Liquid Glitches. Be welcome to give a few likes ![]()
