I end up making the same changes for every new score I notate ie I always have wings on repeat bar lines, number bar count on multi-rest, increase stave line thickness, and more. Can I save/export these changes and import(?) them into new scores? Thanks

In the dialog for Engraving Options, there is a “Save As Defaults” button. Same for all the other Options.

You can also use the Library Manager to transfer settings from a file that’s set up the way you like.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Found that and saves as defaults. I opened another, similar file but could not make the defaults appear in the new score. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks. Andy

The button next to “Save As Default” resets your document to the saved defaults.

Thank you both for your help. I must still be doing something wrong. I have exported(?) the file to the library and then tried to apply it to the new file but nothing changes.

  1. In one document, set your Options as you want them.
  2. Press “Save As Default”.
  3. Open another document.
  4. Press “Reset to Saved Defaults”.

If this is not working, then please provide detailed details of exactly what you’re doing.

Ok, thanks, done the ‘Save as default where do I find ‘Reset to default’ ? Thanks

Right next to “Save as Default” – see @benwiggy 's image above.

Sorry to bother you again but in my ignorance I am still haveing problems with default setting. When I try to save as default I press 'Save as default in the engraving option but the apply button is greyed out. If I try to apply the default settings to and existing score nothing happens. Both scores are xml imports from Sib. Thanks for any nore help would be much appreciated.

You just press “Save As Default”, and it’s done. The Apply button is only lit when you have changed an option, and it needs to be applied.

Check a particular option that you know you have changed and set as your default. Is the value in this document the same, or different?
