I often do some heavy rearranging of tracks so I would cut the and shift parts around. Is there a way to set the x fade so that it doesnt sit around the cut on the grid. I would like it to be a little earlier so it doesn’t mess with the transient on the beat. I move the xfades manually slightly before the beat starts. Hope this makes sense
Many Thanks
I’m not exactly sure what you’re doing but:
I think what you need is to set the part ‘start’ point at the beat and leave some preroll intact on the part. Then when you move it, the ‘start’ point will hit the beat and the preroll will land out front.
Hey Thanks for the reply. I use the global cut and paste often. So doing it on the actual audio file it’s pretty much the same as moving the x fade a little. I wish there would just be an auto function that put X fade slightly early.
If I understand you right…
Protools has a checkbox for ‘presplice fades’ or something like that. And so if you’re cutting a drum hit right on the transient, it doesn’t fade into the transient.
I haven’t found the exact same thing in Cubase, but if you open your quantize settings, there is a crossfade function there that is always prefade. And you can set the fade time as well.
Yes thats the issue and I think there is a setting in Protools as you say. I will dig into the X fade menu. I think I did try most settings with no luck, but maybe this has been added.
Thanks
I’m afraid this feature doesn’t exist. Really annoying as we just need a little preroll on the fade on transient heavy material. Wonder if it’s possible to make a Macro? Never tried making one. Could someone with this expertise point in a good direction to learn to make a Macro?
Thanks
