Preset Improvements

Feature Requests:

I think there’s some things missing from your preset management.
A preset history? (Which presets we’ve loaded in the plugin so far in the project)

Preset History

Sorry for the bad mock up; those are supposed to be arrows. But where is the preset history? Prev/Next in the history and a drop down for the history list.

No history in the (onboard) preset browser either?

The ‘load program’ isn’t working for me right now. Can’t figure out why.

Opening the preset browser with a hotkey and when it opens it doesn’t default to the currently focused plugin. Why? I’m on Padshop right now but what are those in the list? It doesn’t even tell you what plugin they are.

So I found out the hard way loading one to test and it replaced my plugin with a different one. So I tried to go back to my previous preset and discovered it doesn’t have a preset history. Forgot the name of the preset so I had to go to a previous project version and lost my work.

Where’s the previews for Steinberg stock plugins?

You couldn’t add an onboard simple C3 MIDI note like Serum 2’s browser? Or you couldn’t render out all the presets in advance like the NKS standard? You have that great previewer tool but didn’t utilize it for your own presets.

With a preset history function and a proper previewer we could go down the list listening to presets and drag & drop them into a “preset session” list. Curated for the current jam session. This would be a folder that keeps a preset list handy for keeping a little group of presets apart from the other lists. Akai’s VIP 3 has this.

I’ll make a request for Local Undo which existed in prior versions of Cubase before that.

At the moment I think there are just 2 types of undos? Project Undo and Mixer Undo? With Mixer undo, that sometimes includes a undo step for a VST, but not always. It’s inconsistent. Maybe it depends on the 3rd party VST? iirc @Martin.Jirsak suggested the undo of vst change was an unintended feature?

I’m certainly not against a preset history, but IMO please first fix what exists and what is/is not intended regarding undos. Also bring back Local Undo.

Preset history. Like a “recents” folder. All the presets you’ve opened in the project. And maybe a star beside the ones that currently have events in the project. Maybe a hollow star for ones that used to have events in the project but don’t anymore.

I don’t mean undo functionality, but a log of all the presets you’ve applied to plugins. So you can leave that preset and it’s stored, so you can come back later if you want.

The global preset history in the preset browser, and the plugin’s exclusive preset history onboard that plugin’s preset browser.

Additionally there is visibility undo, zoom undo and quantize undo.

Always for effects. Never for VST instruments (as they are not part of the Mix Console).
