Preset of brackets for all flows of a score

Dear friends,

unfortunately the brackets of all flows of an opera score are not consistent (some brackets are disapeare etc.), so that I have to correct it page by page (this may be a souce of many layout mistakes).
Is there a function to preset the brackets for all flows? Thanks!

Once you start introducing manual bracket/brace overrides, subsequent systems will be affected.

Depending on why you’ve overridden the brackets/braces, it could be that there is an alternative way of achieving your desired result without using overrides, which allows Dorico to be more flexible with adapting which staves are bracketed/braced on subsequent systems.

Perhaps could you share your project, or at least some more about the context?

As Lillie suggests, a peek into your project will
help.

  1. Check the Layout Options for your Full Score, there is a section Brackets and Braces.
  2. You can make a pre-selection there and then use the “Make into Group” function to group certain singers or instruments in Setup Mode. This will also define the overall bracketing.
  3. Last step, as you are already doing: do manual overrides at the beginning of flows or sections. You don’t necessarily need to do this on every page (Lillie’s reply).

Thank you Lillie, I resetted the brackets/ braces preferences in the layout options for the main score.

Dear Lille, thank you for your answer and your interest. I reset the Engrave Options to Saved Defaults, but without success. My project TENOCHTITLAN is unfortunately a little bit too big for to sending via this website (5,1 MB).

Have you tried applying the Silence playback template and saving with a new filename?

No, I use the note performer playback template and the before that the auto playback template. But a bracket is a graphic problem, isn’t it? - But, nevertheless, I tried it now, without success.

The reason @asherber mentions applying the Silence template is because that will reduce the file size, so it might fit within the forum’s file size limit.

Thanks, @Zalde, sorry I wasn’t clear.

Ah, thanks, @Zalde and @asherber , I understand! Now I used the Silence template AND deleted the most of flows, so that the file is little enough. The mistake we’d spoken you can see in bar 9. My problems with the brackets are issue 1.) the irrational bracket in bar 9, and issue 2.) the inconsistence of bracketing in the whole score with all flows: once the drums are all connected with brackets, once only a snare drum with a TomTom, but not the Grand Cassa etc., although I connected ALL percussion instruments in the 1rst flow by a bracket. Thanks for your patience!

You’ve got lots of manual Bracket and Barline changes. For me it’s not clear if they are part of the problem or part of the solution

You might try to start over by deleting them all (select 1 in Engrave mode, shift-Cmd/Ctrl-A to select them all and delete) and see how it shows just using your defaults.

From that, could you describe what and where you would like to change? There probably is an Layout or Engraving option for that
