Presonus Faderport 16 scribble text is garbled with cubase

For me, not matter what I’ve tried so far, the Presonus Faderport 16 scribble text is garbled with Cubase (14). Some tracks show correct info but most show nonsense that bears no resemblance to the track name in Cubase.

Has anyone found a fix for this?

Thanks.

what do you mean scribble? are you referring to long filenames getting “renamed” in the display of the faderport? that is because the faderport has a very limited maximum text amount in the display. it is like 6-8 characters maximum

Yeah, Presonus call it a ‘scribble strip.’ Even short text gets garbled. For example:

“Mic 1” shows:

Pan
Mic 1

“Guitar Mic Blue Cable” shows:

Left-
MicBlu

“Guitar Mic Orange Cable” shows:

Right
Guitar

It’s like it’s adding extraneous text taken from random parts of other track names.

Nope. Under Mackie mode, Cubase sends two lines to be displayed. What you see as “Pan Left- Right” is actually the first line, indicating that under the current Mackie Mode, the knobs are handling the Pan for the tracks. This is useful when we have a proper Mackie implementation, since there are other modes, and we usually want to see on our displays the mode currently selected. That being said, it’s always up to the manufacturer of the controller to filter out if necessary whichever line MCU protocol sends.
