Hi Frank,
that’s how it should be.
Being able to switch between the Modes of the Shift Page is the basic concept. However, this is not possible from the EQ Mode, as all the buttons of the Middle Section are used there.
So if you switch from the Main Page to the Shift Page and then want to call up another Mode on the Shift Page, this would not work if the last Mode on the Shift Page was the EQ Mode.
In addition, it is actually more practical, when switching to the Shift Page from the Main Page, calling up the previous Mode before the EQ Mode on the Shift Page, because the previous (and afterwards more often desired) switches often looked like this: (Scroll Mode - Zoom Mode), (Scroll Mode - Marker Mode), (Event Mode - Nudge Mode), etc.
Since you can now call up the EQ Mode directly with Bypass + Master, this behavior is no longer an extra effort anyway.
It’s a small detail, but for some users it’s one of the first impressions and they should be positive and convincing, I think.
So this small detail should be fixed.
Hi, thanks for making this great tool — I’ve been using it and really appreciate your work!
I’m wondering if anyone else has run into issues with Stream Deck midi script.
I’m using the Cubase Pro Stream Deck profile from Sideshow FX, and when I try to use these two MIDI scripts at the same time, I sometimes run into problems — the Stream Deck script occasionally stops working.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Thanks again!
I also use a Stream Deck Device (with a SideshowFX profile) besides the FaderPort.
I once run into the same issue while trying out the then new Global Project Scroll function for the FaderPort.
Since then I deactivated a Cubase setting for MIDI, which is described in the fp-wizard_setup.pdf under ‘further problem solutions’ :
"Disconnect the connections between Cubase and ‘DirectMusic’ devices if the connection to the FaderPort is sometimes lost: Studio > Studio Setup > MIDI Port Setup > uncheck Use Device ‘Directmusic’.
I can’t tell you if this is the solution to this issue, but in my case I hadn’t a problem like that since I changed this setting, so you might give it a try.
And please let us know about your experience - it may help others, who use more than one Controller via the MIDI Remote Script Function in Cubase.
Thanks so much for this script! It’s all working great except for one issue (which might not be to do with the script). When I use touch write and let go of the fader on the Faderport it does not snap back to the pre write level as I would expect in touch mode. Nor does it return to the pre-write level when I press stop. It acts like it’s in latch even when it’s in touch. Is there a way to get it to do act like it’s in touch mode?
I started Cubase and reset all preferences to their default values.
When I record fader automation, it works as expected for me here with ‘Global Automation Mode = Auto-Latch’ and also with ‘Global Automation Mode = Touch’. I am therefore unable to reproduce the reason why this does not work identically for you. (Note: Sometimes it helps to disable ‘read’ for the track in question.)
In case you can’t find the cause: I am currently improving the script-internal control of the motorfader. This means that the next update of fp-wizard could bring about a change for you.
Thanks CKB. After doing some experimenting I think it’s possibly a bug in cubase. I’ve realised that I get exactly the same problem if I use the mouse in touch write, ie it behaves as if it’s in latch mode. However I have found a work around. If I first manually write an automation node with the pencil tool at the start and end of a track, touch write then works as expected both with the mouse and FaderPort. It’s a pain to have to do but it works.
On another topic, is it possible to get FaderPort to write send level automation?
Yes, that’s easy. In fp-wizard there is a ‘Send Mode’ where you can also write automation of the send levels. The transport section is available within the ‘Send Mode’ there and the Write/Read buttons work as well.
It’s best to take a look at the release-notes-pdf. The ‘Send Mode’ is there explained starting on page 13.
Ok I followed the release notes and got the FaderPort to work with sends perfectly. However today I launched Cubase and although the volume fader and transport are working fine on the FaderPort, the sends are no longer working as before. I can’t see what’s different, I’m still following the same steps:
Mixer channel selected
Press Bypass and Touch on FP
Press corresponding button for the send (in this case send 8 which is the Maker button).
Move the rotary controller.
I’ve tried it a bunch of times today and cannot get any the sends to work. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks.
I’ve followed these steps. It works for the first 3-4 sends but once I start trying to use send 5-8 they not work. The Master, Click, Selection and Maker buttons which are meant to correspond to sends 5-8 do not work. Instead they control sends 1-4 but in a seemingly random manner. And then the Link, Pan, Channel and Scroll buttons stop working for 1-4 as well. The Touch light is still blinking through all of this. Once this problem has happened, even if I go out of send mode by pressing shift and back into it again (following your steps above) it will not longer work at all (not even 1-4).
That’s not how the Send Mode works.
For Send 1 to 4, there is Bank A, which can be selected using (Link / Pan / Channel / Scroll).
For Send 5 to 8, there is Bank B, which can also be selected using (Link / Pan / Channel / Scroll). The buttons (Master / Click / Section / Marker) are for something else.
Take another look at the release notes PDF, where everything is explained very clearly, such as how to switch between Bank A and Bank B.
I hadn’t read here yet that there were problems with the Send Mode.
I’m an idiot! I had read about Section and Marker changing from controlling sends 1-4 or 4-8 but forgotten about it. It all works fine when I use those controls of course. Apologies for wasting your time. And a HUGE thank you for working on the script for this!
Very good, CKB!
