"preview in place" browsing samples

for personal samples you have on your HD

is it possible to browse so preview in place the sample on the fly?
Groove Agent is capable of this function, wondering if even Halion can do that

I understand that’s not an usual function need for a sampler, but for some reason I am trying to use Halion like a one-shot-drums-player [like Groove Agent] so the preview in place would be useful

I assume that the lack of answers means that it’s not possible, even if the browsers looks similar

There is a possibility to do that in HALion.

  • load/create a program / preset
  • open the Program Tree
  • click with the right mouse button on the sample you would like to exchange
  • select “Import/Export → Replace Sample” from the context menu
  • in the upcoming dialog select the sample you would like to listen in place
  • “Cancel” will return to your former sample
  • “OK” will replace the former sample permanently
