I’m wanting to print a voice part on 5.5 x 8.5 paper (often). Is there any equivalent in Dorico, and if not, how do you get a custom size? When I select “Custom Paper” I don’t see how to tell Dorico what the size of the “Custom paper” is that I want to use.
OK, somehow my Layout/Page Setup does not list “Statement” size as one of the options. I’m seeing Letter, Ledger, Invoice, Foolscap, Monarch, Long Paper, Custom Paper (all in no particular order that I can figure) and a lot of numerical stuff, some of which I think is probably in inches and some in centimeters (or maybe millimeters). No “Statement” showing on my dropdown list. My screen doesn’t actually name the dropdown list as “Page Size” either but there’s nothing else on the screen saying “size”.
You are sure you are in Library>Layout Options?
My list is alphabetic starting with the A3 metric sizes, ending with the US Quarto, Statement, Tabloid and finally Custom.
Ah, you’re right. I was in the Print tab. In Layout, all is as you say, and I successfully printed the voice part on statement size paper. But - I can’t figure out how to format the part. When I’m in Engrave, whether the “Engrave” on top menu or second menu (starts with Setup), I don’t see a way to play with just the part. I’m sure it’s there somewhere, but… I tried changing the Current set from Default Full Score to Default Part, as that’s the only mention of a part that I am finding, but that’s doing nothing. I’m wanting to create a graphic slice with only the voice part to export for a publishing app, but I want to edit the format first.
OK, I got it! Had to select the part in Write first, and now it opens in Engrave.
We’re good! Thanks for the help
Hmm? Permit me, I still think you are a little confused.
Have you worked through the Dorico First Steps Exercise?
I’ve looked at the long video for Finale users, and also the 11-minute starter video. I will very happily check out the link you sent! Sounds like something I’ve been looking for - a run through the basics - I hope!
But I did find how to open the part in Engrave - it’s indeed right there, just didn’t see it. anyway, got the voice part edited and exported.
It is definitely that! Perhaps a tedious task, but it does take you through the entirety of a typical Dorico workflow.
