Pro Tools Stereo to Nuendo 5.1 or Atmos What is Needed

Hello,

I’m in post on a feature. I’ve done the ADR in Nuendo, and will do Foley as well. The person mixing it is using Pro Tools and is only doing a stereo mix. He’s taking it to a friend to upmix for the deliverables.

I’m new to mixing and would like to practice different outputs in Nuendo. What should I ask him for? All of his tracks, just stems…?

I know Anymix Pro is included, and I do want to try it, (though I haven’t found a good tutorial) but I’d also like to try the Atmos Renderer. Is this possible with him doing everything in Pro Tools?

I do have Pro Tools Studio if that helps. Would it be best to have him send me his session?

Thanks!

This is a quick upmix file to get you started. just throw any stereo wav on the audio track to test it.

Ask for all tracks if you want to mix. You may not even need to upmix if you have all the tracks. as Mono and stereo is all you need. For stems you will need to upmix.
If you are starting try this out for practice
Dialogue: 100% Center Channel
Foley: 100% Front L/R (panned to phantom center)
Hard Effects: 100% Front L/R + 50% LFE
Music: 75% Front L/R, 25% Sides/Rear
Wind thunder birds flyby plane etc all objects panned using overheads,
