Hello
Since the new Update to Halion 7.1.30 it’s missing in my Dorico 5.1.81
I’ve already re-installed Halion 7 but it’s stil the same problem…
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.7 MB)
Any information about that…?
Thanks and best wishes!

Hi @lycalp!
Did you try HS7 (and H7) standalone?
When it works standalone I usually don’t have issues with Dorico:
In your diagnostics I don’t find recent detection of HS7/H7, but I may be wrong…
Hi
Thank you for your answer!
Yes, my standalone H7 works ! But in Dorico I cannot see H7 anymore in my VST…
It looks like I don’t have it installed….
But in Download Assistant there seems everything OK (green = installed)
Very strange… ???
Hi @lycalp ,
HALion and HALion Sonic - for reasons I don’t know - went to the blocklist and therefore don’t appear in Dorico. Please try the following:
Dear Ulf
YOU ARE THE BEST!!! That was the solution! Thanks so much and best wishes!
Hello, Here’s the problem, if you can help me…
Dorico 5.1.81 (Windows 11 24 H2) is malfunctioning with Halion Sonic 7.1.30
-Routing: Edit instrument doesn’t open;
on the left side 02:- !!Halion Sonic!!
-Preferences: Default playback template with Iconica, HSo, Halion Sonic, etc. Preferred Halion Plugin blank or Halion only.
Sometimes a window appears:
“Your document folder is not accessible! You might not be able to save presets. Please check permissions and your “Controlled Folder Access settings” The system does not allow access to the “Folder Access settings”
I applied Ulf’s solution but still the same problem.
Steinberg Download Assistant refused to update normally. I installed it with the 1.37.4 file. I reinstalled Dorico and Halion, but no luck.
Here’s a diagnostic. Thanks.

Hi @jeanpierre ,
the logs show me, that you have both HALion 7.1.30 and HALion Sonic 7.1.30 installed. They are not blocklisted and therefore should get loaded with you. However, the logs indicate that HALion Sonic can not get loaded for reasons I don’t know.
What if you create a new project from piano template, does the same happen again, that HALion Sonic does not get loaded?
After doing that, please post a new diagnostics, thanks.
Hi Ulf,
I created a new project, the same thing happens: Halion Sonic won’t load.
Here’s the new diagnosis.
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.5 MB)
If I click on the Halion Sonic window "Your document folder is not accessible! etc., the transport bar works.
A few days ago, I merged the two partitions on the C: drive.
Did this delete or modify any folders?
Here are some pictures of Disque C folders
Hi @jeanpierre ,
I think everything you need is there, but I guess that merging the two partitions had a negative impact on the file access rights.
One way to test is, try to start Dorico as administrator.
Navigate to the Dorico5.exe and do a right click on it. Then from the pop-up menu choose Run as Administrator. How does that go?
Of course, normally you should not do this (run as admin), but if that succeeds, then you definitely have an access rights problem.
No success…
Thanks, Ulf.
I assume Windows needs to be reinstalled?
Windows reinstall? That would be the most radical thing to do.
But I would still try other things before going that way, but it’s your decision.
Yes, we can try other things with your help.
Thanks.
Thank you Ulf, for your reply.
Currently, all the problems seem to have been resolved! (I was really pessimistic).
I reinstalled everything using Steinberg Download Assistant.
I now know that merging partitions on the C drive is risky!!!
