I have Cubase 13 elements and am having trouble with every MIDI note so far.
All MIDI notes keep sustaining forever, played through a VST instrument (for example SI-Bass Guitar).
I found a lot of topics about this problem but no solution so far works in my situation.
Recording the MIDI everything sounds fine. Also playing through the VST-i while not recording works okay.
Playing back though, all notes sound sustained, as if there is no note off command on the MIDI notes.
This doesn’t only happen with playing notes on keyboard, it also happens when I manually ‘draw’ notes.
My setup is a laptop, line 6 helix as an audio interface and a Nektar Impact LX mini USB MIDI keyboard.
I hope you have any good tips for me!
I’ll send some screenshots from my preferences.
The problem is semi-solved.
I have done a test with 15 instrument tracks and different VST-i’s.
I’ve discovered that the problem only seems to occur with VST-i’s of manufacturer “Cakewalk”.
The Cakewalk products included with Cubase elements 13 are SI-Bass Guitar, SI-Drum kit, SI-Electric piano and SI-Strings.
All these instruments (accept the drums) have the sustaining problem. The other built-in VST-i HALion Sonic doesn’t have this problem.
So, problem is sort-of solved, because HALion is for this moment satisfying. But now the question is why the Cakewalk VST-i’s witch come with Cubase don’t work for me.
Oh, there is no Cakewalk instrument included in Cubase Elements. You probably had them installed already before. Cakewalk is a competitor to Cubase, there is no collaboration.
Maybe somebody using both products has the chance to check the mentioned VSTi’s on their system.
Maybe try to draw one datapoint of 0 with the pencil tool onto the CC64 lane that is shown in your screenshot and see if the notes are still sustained.
The problem i have is solved. the problem was tha there was a midi track sustaining before the track playing. I mean the sustain signal was not at Zero at the end of the previous midi part on the same track
