When I look at this pic of the Alesis IO2 it has a knob called monitor mix on it?

oops, sorry about that! I overlooked it, very stupid mistake by me, embarrassing :

Anyway… so you can hear the mic when all the way over to direct.
I turned on the input analog, and i can now here sound! Now i just can’t record through the microphone.
I finally made it work! thanks everyone for helping!
I was going to get to that.
Now turn the “Knob” monitor all the way over to USB. switch on mono
Now the audio will all be routed through the computer, make a mono audio channel in Cubase select the 1st input and the stereo output, enable the record button and make sure the monitor button is lit too. You should get some input.

I see you managed to get it to work. As a side note the manuals do actually cover all that!

Maybe a screen shot of your iO2 settings with analog working?
