Problem with updating to Dorico 6.1

I updated to Dorico Pro 6.1 today through the Steinberg Download Assistant, which shows that all components (including the new Etude Elements) as updated to the latest version. However when I start Dorico Pro 6.1, I get an error message that Etude elements is missing. Despite reinstalling Etude Elements a number of times the error msg continues to appear and the Etude Elements library appears as locked in the media bay. I am enclosing the relevant screenshots. How do I resolve this issue? I own license for Dorico Pro 6.

Hi @Ravindran , please read fully Daniel’s announcment, especially the part about refreshing the license.

Thanks Ulf, I tried Shift+Click on refresh button on the Steinberg Activation Manager and it seems to have resolved the issue.

Is Etude Elements library available for the Dorico iPad version too? On updating the iPad version I don’t find the Etude Elements library.

According to our website it is, yes.

But I have no idea how or where to get it from.

If you have an active subscription or the Lifetime Unlock in-app purchase, Etude Elements is available in Dorico for iPad. Go to the Reset Sounds menu item in the application menu at the right-hand side of the toolbar, and tap the Download button in the dialog that appears.

Thanks Daniel, yes I do have lifetime unlock, I have reset the sounds and yes its now functional.

has not worked for me on a Mac. anyone know why?

Hi @Dafydd , then you might have a different problem. Let’s see, please do the following:

Please open a Terminal and into there copy & paste the command (and after that press the Return/Enter key):

ls -la /Library/Application\ Support/Steinberg/Content/VST\ Sound

The output please copy and paste into a text file which you need to zip up and can then post here as an attachment. Thanks

How to open a terminal on a Mac?

It’s in the apps→utilities folder. cmd+shift-U should open the folder from the Finder. Or the Go menu in Finder.

and each time I click the refresh button whilst holding shift I get the same message ā€˜An E Licenser problem occurred. Your eLicenser initialisation is hanging ….. restart the computer’

. And then this loop begins again, no change or result! I sent the zip file from Terminal by email

I’ll send you tomorrow a description how you can disable the ELicenser. It’s late in this part of the world

Many thanks!

And it appears to have been a long day answering basically the same question over and over again. Sorry you had to go through that.

So here is how to disable the eLicenser:

  • Open a Terminal window and copy & paste

open ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steinberg/Activation\ Manager

After hitting the Return/Enter key a Finder window will open. In there you’ll find a among others a file called settings.json
When you open that file in a text editor you will see a line that says:

ā€œenableELicenserā€: true,

Change true to false and save the file. To make really sure, reboot your machine and then try again the license refresh procedure.

Many thanks for your compassion, Derrek.

Glad to hear that, @Dafydd .

Just to confirm, disabling the eLicenser then helped you, right?

Yes. I didn’t know what the cause of the warning was, nor its source, but now the smoke has cleared and all is well. Thank you!
