Problems after switching from “Write Mode” with selected notes to “Play Mode” for dynamics editing

Hello everyone, does anyone know a solution to the following:

Problem 1:

I have marked a note or passage in an orchestral Score (own composition)
in “Write Mode.”

After switching from “Write Mode” to “Play Mode,” the marked notes are correctly displayed in orange at the Top of the piano roll in the Key Editor.

However, when I use the mouse to draw a frame around the corresponding dynamic points in the “Dynamics Editor” then, in order to edit or delete them, the marking is lost as soon as I release the mouse button.

I then no longer see points, and the markings for the passage in “Write” mode are lost at the same time.

So, I have to mark the notes to be edited again in “Write Mode,” switch back to “Play Mode” in the Key Editor and draw a frame again.

The second time, the dynamic points are usually marked in orange in the Dynamic editor as it should be and I can delete or edit them.

Problem 2.

After switching from “Write” to “Play” mode for the same editing reason, the Key Editor often does not initially display the correct instrument, but rather the first one in the Score, e.g., piccolo, even though I have selected a note in the horn in the Score.

In most cases, the Key Editor then jumps to the correct instrument after about a second – but sometimes it doesn’t:

Sometimes, for example, I have selected a horn passage in the Score, but when I switch from “Write” to “Play Mode” in the Key Editor, “Trumpet” 1 is displayed as the instrument instead. After switching back and forth between the program modes again, it is then usually displayed correctly.

These issues happen frequently and take a lot of time.
I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong and haven’t found anything relevant here yet.

Maybe someone knows what’s going on and can give me a hint?
Thank you!

PS Regarding point 2: Could it be because I like to temporarily change the order of the instruments (players) in the Score in Setup mode when composing, as this is faster than creating lots of user-defined layouts?

Is there a reason you don’t just use the key editor in Write mode?

Thanks for your quick reply and tip, Janus.
To be honest, no, I’ll give that a try.
I probably didn’t do it because it’s a little “hidden” in the lower zone and I was only thinking about “play, play, play,” and the mode switches are so prominent at the top.

(It’s the same icon in both Write and Play )

Unfortunately, the problem of the dynamics “dots” disappearing as soon as I drag the frame and then release the mouse button still occurs even in write mode’s lower zone, but not everywhere in the Score. I will probably have to test more meticulously whether this only happens with dots (squares) that I have previously set myself with the pen tool, or also with the small ones that Dorico sets itself, or when both are framed together… I’ll try to find out later tonight, as I’ll be offline for a while now. Thank you again.

PS
Microsoft Copilot told me on the way:
This appears to be a selection/focus loss bug in the Key Editor. It is triggered when drawing a selection rectangle in the Dynamics Lane, causing Dorico to drop the active note selection and reload the editor.

I hadn’t found that in the forum yet, sorry.
Can anyone confirm that?
Thank you.
