I keep coming across things that Dorico seems to have a problem with. This is what I’m trying to achieve (Bohemian Rhapsody again, done with Finale):
In Dorico, I am creating the downstem notes on a separate staff and condensing them.
I can create the dotted minim tied to a quaver in bar 2 using Forced Duration. However, when I try to tie all the notes together the forced duration is removed:
Then when they are condensed, the tie need to be broken across the key change:
To break the tie across the key change, go to Library > Engraving Options > Key Signatures and activate Erase background behind key signature accidentals:
Thankyou Janus, that’s something worth knowing. For reaons of speed, I like to enter all the notes first and then go back over the score again adding articulations, slurs & hairpins, staff text etc. I would like to do the ties while inputting the notes but I’m finding it is prone to problems with ties going backwards, so I add them later too. And that’s why I couldn’t get the layout I wanted.
Thankyou John. I spent ages trying to find out how to break a tie in the manual and online. I was assuming it would be an attribute of the tie, not of the key sig.
