Project audio format changed: audio out of tune

Hi all ,

I saved a project last night, but when I launched it this morning, I got a message indicating that "The project record format has changed to 48 kHz.” (not verbatim but something like that). As a result, most of the audio files have been altered, and now they sound out of tune due to a pitch shift.

While I’m not sure why the project format changed (and that’s not my primary concern right now), I’d like to know if there is a way to convert these audio files back to 44.1 kHz to restore their correct pitch. I do have a backup saved on the cloud, but it was updated with these new settings this morning (as I had the internet on).

Thanks

Cubase 13 Pro / Mac OS Ventura

Ah, today’s Friday the 13th ( now it figures

Anyway, managed to retrieve yesterday’s copy from the cloud (it hadn’t yet been updated),
However, I’m still puzzled about what went wrong and how I would have reverted the audio files to 44.1 kHz to restore their original pitch. I tried converting the files in the Pool (selecting the file, choosing “Convert,” and selecting “New + Replace in Pool”), but the results sounded kinda weird.

Only strange thing that happened this morning before the problem occurred: Cubase repeatedly failing to launch : crashing while loading external VST instruments (EW OPUS, in my case).

Hi,

This happens if Cubase is using different Sample Rate than the Audio Device.

Most probably, you got a message, the Sample Rates don’t match and how do you want to solve it.

So, what is the Project Sample Rate, what are the files Sample Rate and what is the Audio Device’s Sample Rate, please?

Hi,

Everything was set to 44.1 kHz when I closed the project the night before. However, when I reopened Cubase the next morning, the project’s sample rate had changed to 48 kHz.

Hi,

Probably the Sample Rate of the Audio Device changed, maybe by any other application.
