Since the release of Nuendo 15, the Project Preview has been a game-changer for my workflow. However, after daily use, I’ve realized that 5 seconds is not enough to distinguish between similar projects or complex arrangements. Here is how we could make it perfect..
First of all, I would like to thank the Steinberg team for implementing the Project Preview feature in Nuendo 15. I suggested this on the forum a while ago and seeing it integrated into the workflow is fantastic. The audio quality of the preview is excellent (lossless quality) and the generation at project closing is very fast.
However, after testing it extensively, the current 5-second duration is often too short to distinguish between different versions of a project, especially when working on similar instrumental tracks, specific genres, or mastering sessions in the same key.
I would like to suggest two improvements for a future update:

Customizable Duration: Add an option in the Preferences (General or VST) to set the preview duration (e.g., 5s, 10s, 20s, or 30s).

Customizable Start Point: The ability to choose where the preview is captured (Current cursor position, a specific Marker, or the “Project Start” + offset).
Having a 15-20 second preview would make this feature perfect for professionals handling large archives of similar-sounding projects.
