Project sample rate mismatch

Hello,

I am using cubase 5.5.3 and an m audio firewire 410. Win 7 64 bit.

I was doing a project in cubase 32 bit mode because the vsti synth I wanted to use is 32 bit (the 64 bit version does not work all that well).

For some reason the project sample rate changed to 44.1 from 96. I have no idea why or how this happened.

I went to the project settings and changed it back. The project says 96k, but when I open the m-audio mixer, it says 44.1

So they do not match. Does anybody have an idea why this would happen?

Maybe some other application is forcing the card to reset to 44.1?

yeah could be. I did some further investigation, and so far what I noticed is that the synth I am using does not like higher sample rates, and will crackle much of the time when used. I never ran into this problem before with other instruments. I contacted steinberg and they have no idea, so I am now going to ask m-audio if they know what the deal is. If I find anything useful I will post it here.

However, I can pretty much guarantee that m-audio will tell me to uninstall and then reinstall the drivers for my device. I can’t wait, it will be fun!
