Projects stopped opening

I loaded Cubase on a new computer yesterday and connected my external hard drive and was able to open and play all files as normal.

When I turned on the computer today I had a message that the hard drive needed to scan for corrupted files so it ran. When I opened Cubase, no project would open always saying invalid file.

I tried several of the fixes suggested in a Google search but nothing would work. How is it that dozens of projects would instantly be invalid?

Is there anything I can do?

Hi and welcome,

Could you try in Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

Could you try in Safe Start Mode and remove all 3rd party plug-ins, please?

Could you try to (backup and) trash Cubase preferences? Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% Steinberg/Cubase _X__64

Hi,

I’ve got the exact same problem, I turn on cubase today and 99% of cubase binary files are invalid. I’ve tried to start cubase in safe mode, I’ve eliminated all 3re party plugins, if tries to eliminate al cubase preferences.

I’m in Cubase 10.0.60, with the last update of windows 10 and a fresh windows start from a few days a go.

How can I get back my projects?

Hi and welcome,

Would yo be willing to share on e of the project, please? Just the CPR file, not the WAVs. Thanks.
