Proofreading is flagging notes that should not be flagged. “E4 is above the trombone’s comfortable range”. The notes are not highlighted in color. The definition shows middle C as C4, standard range is E2 to C5, advanced range is E1 to F5. What else could be causing this?
In Edit > Preferences > General, do you have Middle C set to C3?
Edit: If Middle C is set to C4, do you have a Bass Trombone with its name changed to Trombone? If the E4 notes are not highlighted in color, is View > Note And Rest Colors > Notes Out Of Range not checked?
Middle C is set to C4. Only trombone 4 is defined as bass trombone, with different ranges. The notes in question are in trombone 1,2,3. Colors for Notes out of range is checked, and is working properly for other instruments. It does not highlight these notes, E4-G4.
Are you willing to upload a cut-down version of your Dorico project which still exhibits the problem for other forum users to examine? Otherwise, I’m out of ideas.
I opened the file this morning to do just that, but having ignored the issue previously, I can’t get it to show up again. I thought “show ignored” or “clear” would bring it back, but it doesn’t. Looks like I need to better understand these functions.
I’m glad the problem has vanished, at least for now. ![]()
