Hi everyone, I know this has been asked a few times already, but I just wanted to double-check before making the payment.
I’m planning to switch from FL Studio to Cubase Pro using the Crossgrade option, and I saw that it’s currently on sale at Thomann. Since Cubase 15 is only a few months away, does anyone know if it’s possible to buy the license now but wait to activate it until after Cubase 15 is announced?
Switching DAWs is a big investment, and I’m not in a rush to start using Cubase right away — I’d just like to lock in the discount and get the most out of my money.
Thank you very much for your reply! That sounds great! I’m using the trial version now and Cubase has improved my workflows a lot, especially for recording piano, guitar and getting to see real-time notation from my composition.
Looking forward to becoming longtime Cubase user going forward
Does this mean that you can buy a C14 update at a discount, soon, and wait to activate it? And when C15 arrives, then you can activate it and get C15, without paying anything extra? (Grace period)
Yes, you could do that in the past. However, don’t forget: this grace period system relies on Steinberg’s generosity alone and they are free to change it at any given time. In other words - yes, but it’s a gamble.
You’re asking guys on a user forum to clarify/speculate what Steinberg may/may not offer in regards to cb15.
What if cb15 is released as a ground-up reimagined product at a higher price/higher-priced upgrade path in November? And also perhaps delay release to mid 2026?
At any rate, if Steinberg’s release doesn’t match the user-speculation data, don’t blame it on Steinberg
This is right. We are all just speculating based on the experience from the past years. But Steinberg has the full right to change its policy (and or release date) any time.
