Question about Dorico 6, Kerning Chord Symbols

Hi Everyone!!!

First of all, congratulations to the development Team for such a fenomenal upgrade: Dorico 6! I’m so happy seeing Dorico growing and growing. Dorico 6 is the best music editing software in the whole world for me.

I’ve being reading some posts about kerning chord symbols and I have a question (that I know for sure it wasn’t possible before this last update, i.e. Dorico 5) but perhaps now it can be done.

Anyone knows if it is now possible, in Dorico 6, kerning text, like the space between the (#11), i.e. moving, adjusting the space between these five characters?: (#11), the space between:
# 1
1 1

This chunk of text I cannot edit:

I really appreciate your time to let me know if this is possible now, I’ve been waiting since Dorico 1.2 back in 2017 to be able to edit my books and arrangements the way I did in Finale, which it was a pain but it could be done, to move every character independently, move each one horizontally and vertically.

I always liked to emulate the hand writing of people like Thad Jones, etc. into my own.
Please, don’t get into if this is correct or incorrect, or why anyone would want to do this.

Thanks a lot for reading this message.
All the best

Because your question is broad. Maybe good idee to look first this video. Problaby a lot of answer to your question.

Hi Maarten,

Thank you so much for your suggestion, I’ve watched the video several times and I think that all questions are answered in this video by Anthony Hughes.

Thank you for point it out.

Is there a timeline for when this information will make it into the written documentation? I really hate having to watch un-segmented videos to try to find the 30 seconds that point to what I’m trying to figure out. I can see that Steinberg prefers the videos now, but there really is no substitute for proper user manual documentation. I just did a quick search in the 6.0 manual and a search for “kerning” does not bring up a reference to kerning in chord symbols. JW

My colleague Lillie is still working on the documentation for all the new chord symbols features added in Dorico 6. Sorry for the delay! In the meantime, please consult the Dorico 6 Version History PDF, which has detailed information about the new features:
