Question about licences in the event of someone passing away

Hi there,

I’m currently trying to help out some friends with some studio stuff. The studio owner has sadly passed away unexpectedly recently. He was a long time Cubase, then Nuendo user, predominantly a sound designer. He had a current licence for Nuendo 13.

His daughter is also getting into music and I’d like to see about transferring any licences over to her. She is more using Cubase - not even sure if there exists a Nuendo to Cubase “downgrade”, but I’d like to hope that she could continue using her fathers account.

Anyone know about this? Or the best contact method to enquire about it with Steinberg directly? Australian based - we can’t contact Steinberg directly through via MySteinberg over here.

Thanks

Is it actually necessary to transfer licenses? Does the family have access to the studio owner’s email accounts?

I will try to send a notification to someone who might be able to shed some light on this

If the account cannot be accessed because the password is not known or the 2FA was active, it would still be possible to transfer the licence.

To re-register products in MySteinberg, we need to have some kind of official document (death certificate) that verifies this request.

Our Australian support team can forward the request to us then.
