Quick Nuage Question

I’m thinking about moving to a Nuage and have a question for Nuage users…

How does the fader unit handle controlling plugins that have more than 32 parameters? I might be missing it but I can’t find anything on the manuals, courseware, or videos that addresses this. Are you able to flip through ‘banks’ of encoder parameters? I just want to validate that there isn’t a limitation on controlling plugins with a larger number of assignable controls.

up and down buttons of Nuage fader (next to meter button) scroll plugin parameters in bank of 32. section control blinks from 1 to 8 to let you know in which bank of 32 your in.
hope this helps

Thanks! I was thinking that those up and down arrows would be perfect for scrolling through banks of controls, glad to know that that’s how they implemented it.

I don’t know if you plan to buy it, but I can see on the website that it is discontinued! At least on the European website.

Aren’t you concerned about the fact that it costs an arm and a leg and that it is discontinued? I mean, you are putting big bucks into something that has reached the end of its development, and very soon won’t be supported anymore.

Unless you are getting it very cheap, of course.
But I would never do that myself.

I’ve got several Nuages and they work just fine still but sadly the repeating story with Steinberg is they discontinue their products over night, no matter how much you paid for them when new. Latest story with elicenses…

I know that Yamaha has discontinued the Nuage, so I’ll only buy one if it’s at a deep discount. I’d be using it with Nuendo on Windows so it should be good for a while.

I’m currently using an Icon D-Control with PT, which I bought for pennies on the dollar long after it was discontinued, so it’s something I’m comfortable with.

Since Yamaha has discontinued Nuage and abandoned the Workgroup Manager, is there any reason why they wouldn’t just open source it so others could continue it, at least to support Mac Silicon? I’m so upset that they’ve done this after spending a fortune on a Nuage system and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Opensource Nuage almost for the surfaces would be a elegant solution from Yamaha for the users

I sent a request for that recently. Yamaha said no.

Hi all,
In case anyone is interested, here’s my observations regarding N14 and Nuage so far. All in all it’s working fine, basically like with N13 and earlier, but with a few quirks.

  • Nuage mixer, channel history: the text is black for whatever reason, so quite hard to see.
  • Not a big surprise but dragging channels to move them in the Nuage mixer is not possible. There is however a new right-click menu item that lets you move channels.
  • I’ve been having problems with the Nuage mixer when I’ve tried to copy channel settings with Ctrl+drag which often caused the application to crash. It’s not resolved, but rather it’s simply not possible at all now. Bummer.
  • Right side mixer functions, updated look consistent with new UI.
  • Modulation shows up in the mixer. (Fine, but wish I could hide it actually)
  • Remote control editor for plugins doesn’t work at all (probably didn’t before either, just really wish it would)
  • Unlocking any parameter in the channel view (padlock symbol) causes a lot of weirdness, it starts populating empty dials.

All in all it seems to work fine. But really wish Yamaha would reconsider making the code open source.

Thanks for the update on Nuage and N14! What OS are you using N14 on?

Ah, I should have mentioned: I’m on Windows 11.
