Hello people. I recently got the Panorama CS12 from Nektar and I’m very happy about it. But I got one issue with it. When I use plugins witch have functions on the last knob of the second row (I have some videos to show it further down) then I also change the PreGain from -50 to +50. Sometimes I get even random PreGain Inputs where it’s kinda scary when I track gets +50db.
What have I done?
I have the CS12 directly plugged into my Mac Studio M2 Max. First unpowered then powered. Both times the same result. I also changed cables and plugged it into a different port. I have a USB hub which I use for my keyboard and midi controller. I unplugged the all of it and tried it out again. Still same result. The CS12 has the newest firmware and update of Control Core. I also deleted the whole thing from the Mac again and reinstalled it.
Has anybody else this issue? I don’t know if this is fixable with a firmware update or a hardware problem.
To add another thing I don’t know why I didn’t tested it before sending this. The same knob is also doing weird stuff in Logic Pro. So maybe more of a hardware problem then a Cubase problem. Will ask the Nektar support about it.
I don’t think that a noisy pot or bad contacts change a second parameter in addition.
This rather seems to be a coding bug, could be in the Firmware, in ControlCore or in Remote MIDI, IMHO
I keep thinking the CS12 is about to be put on the “maybe buy now” list, but there are enough thread like this that make me hold off, and review other controllers (currently wondering about Faderport v2, with massive script overhaul by @CKB )
For the time it worked it was great. It speed up my workflow. I think it is a matter of preference. I don’t know anything about the massive script you mentioned. I can tell that for my workflow the one CS12 is perfect. I use it mainly for adjusting my inserts and sends while composing. Not so much for eq because with the mouse I’m still faster.
In the end it is all about what you want and need.
Update on the CS12. I asked the Nektar support about this issue and the device will go back to them and I get an replacement. The support told me it would be a hardware issue.
