Range of instrument cuts off

I am using a bass clarinet sound in Dorico, but when it goes high, it stops working. I guess it “thinks” it is out of range, even though it isn’t. I did find a way to adjust the range in “Instruments” but it still didn’t work. Any ideas? I am not used to using these libraries. In Finale, I always used my Roland synth to get sounds from. Thanks!!

The playback range is determined by the VST, not what’s written on the stave.

Hi. It’s absolutely possible that the library you’re using does not have all the notes available. I’d say it’s not Dorico’s fault, but the library’s!
Some libraries can expand their range by using their highest note and pitch shift it. Not ideal but fills the gaps (vsl). Others cannot. Others (NotePerformer for instance) use modeling alongside sampling, which offers greater flexibility.

I have NotePerformer downloaded…but now how do I help Dorico find it so I can use it? Sorry…I’m new to this!!!

Thanks for your help. So, I have NotePerformer as my sound library. The piece I’m writing is for bass clarinet and string quartet. In Finale, I used my Roland RS-5 for all of these years for the sounds for everything I wrote. When I play this in NotePerformer, there IS an improvement over the Dorico library I tried. But it still doesn’t sound good. The strings completely overpower the bass clarinet. With my Roland I could hear everything clearly. The strings are out of control. Some sounds are big improvements to what I was used to with the Roland sounds, but the bass clarinet is swamped. I guess I have to go in and completely redo all dynamics to try to make it sound right? Also, the mixer slides don’t do anything when I try to use them. And when I hit S to solo an instrument, it doesn’t work. I guess I have a lot of questions!

NotePerformer has its own mixer

Ahhhhhhhh thank you!!!
