This „problem“ is still there even in cubase 12. As workaround I’ve assigned the command key to “locate play cursor” which is instantaneous.
This shows why Pro Tools is still faster for many users in regards to editing as the edit cursor implementation is totally different from steinbergs approach. I can live with the workaround but I hope it gets fixed for your use case.
Any other way to move the cursor has no lag. Except with range tool and that 's when we need it most for fast editing… This doesn’t make sense. Why people don’t talk about it??? Studio one, ableton and pro tools are super fast in this simple operation.
I know… I spotted this exact lag in their new promo and tutorial videos…. They had to deliver on all the other fronts, and deliver they did. No one should argue with that. Not sure if this issue is easy to fix tho… I’m sure they are aware of it… just not prioritised as of this moment…
I have been trying Sutio One recently and altough Cubase has somo addicional features, Studio One its much more snappier and faster. Editing, zooming and navigate its a breeze. You dont need a comp tool to arrange your takes andmost of the functions have a toggle behavior. Cubase its more heavy and slower.
Here is a .gif showing the Range Tool issue described by others:
As you can see “Use Video Follows Edit Mode” is enabled and clicking with the Object Selection Tool is instant. Clicking with the Range Tool has a similar lag as hitting the space bar to start playback.
The lag is also occurring for me if I press play. All other DAWs like Studio One, Ableton Live, Pro Tools playback is instant = starts the moment I hit play (spacebar). Nuendo needs 1,5 to 2 seconds so it is annoying.
The .gif shows the issue. I would like to have playback and range tool click as instant as with the Object Selection Tool if “Use Video Follows Edit Mode” is enabled @Matthias_Quellmann@TimoWildenhain
Excellent way to display this error. This is really annoying for those of us working with a workflow that requires speed and productivity. Please take another look @Matthias_Quellmann. Thank you!!!
Nice demonstration @samirelborno . Thanks for the gifs.
In the time of this lag I already press ‘solo’ key command and the track that was previously selected gets soloed, not the one I clicked on. This bugs me the most and I keep tripping on it again and again. Then I have to go back to unsolo the previous track etc…
