Real-Time Trigger, Tempo, Sound Cues & Video

Hello,

I am directing a musical and am looking at VST Live Pro 2 as a possible solution. I’ve downloaded the trial and like the layout as Nuendo is my DAW.

I have both the sheet music for the songs (which I can put to midi for the various instruments) as well as backing tracks and was wondering what the capabilities were in regards to the following.

  1. Can you trigger song parts in real time without needing to stop the transport?
  2. Can you change tempo in real time? I assume it would only work with midi? I have some interludes that ramp according to the dialogue happening before launching back into the song.
  3. Can more than one sound be played at a time. For instance, a sound cue while a song part is playing?
  4. If I wanted to project video for the audience, can that be triggered separately?

Thank you.

Kevin

YES. See: FlexLoop (min theoretical time for jumping is 501ms)

Yes, See: TAP tempo (and yes, it applies to MIDI only, audio won’t warped)

Yes, See: Modules - MediaPlayer

Yes, See: Modules - (Global) MediaPlayer

Thank you so much, I hate students having to wait for the music in the middle of a performance. This will be great!

you can even put a screen or iPad front to the stage shows synced lyrics or notes (with timestamps), etc… or show notes for someones and lyrics for another ones…

Feeling like I may be missing something obvious. I’ve assigned TAP Tempo and have it on a midi track. When I use it, it says Tap Tempo not possible while transport is running.

Unfortunately that is true. There are a lot of calculations and preloading functions that can not adjust to tempo changes in realtime.

We may be able to do that when we implemented timestretch.

Would that matter for midi? I’m only attempting on midi right now.
