Some projects can take about a minute or more to load. This can’t be right, can it?
All other software (Adobe CC etc.) are really snappy.
i7-2700k @ 4.7ghz, 16gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram and running cubase from an SSD.
Have the Slate digital everything bundle installed but no other 3rd party plugins.
Any ideas as to why this takes to song?

How many tracks are we talking ?
Any virtual instruments involved?
Large projects with many tracks and sample based VSTi can certainly take some time to load, specially if the sample libraries are located on a HDD instead of a SSD.
About 10 tracks. Virtual instruments are addictive keys grand piano and Groove agent. Just one instance of each though. Mostly guitars, bass and vocals. Using Slate plugins on all the channel strips and busses. The samples are running off a mirrored raid of 7200rpm spinners.
