Recent projects are not opening from New Projects panel

Hi - I’m experiencing an issue where recent Cubase projects won’t open from the New Projects panel. Cubase is instead acting as if “Create Empty…” has been pressed. If I try to open the same project from the File->Recent Projects, works fine. This is a new install of Cubase 12 on a new Windows 11 laptop, and bizarrely had the same problem with my last laptop. Everything working fine on my desktop.

Anyone any ideas?

No idea, but if you hold the Ctrl key (on PC, I assume on macOS Cmd key works the same) shortly after double-clicking the Cubase icon you will get a nice “recent projects” list.

Thanks @Johnny_Moneto - didn’t know that feature, pretty cool. Still would love to find a solution to my problem if anyone has any ideas

Hi,

Do you mean Hub? Can you see the correct path to the project file? If you right-click the entry and choose Show in File Explorer (Reveal in Finder on Mac), does it point to the correct file?

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

This is actually how did Cubase look like before the Hub. It just still remains in Cubase.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for your response. Yes this is the Hub/start up page (although it doesn’t say Hub on my instance).
I can see the correct path to the project file on the Hub. When I click Show in File Explorer it correctly shows the folder and file in File Explorer. Here’s the bizarre thing: after I’ve done this, I then go back to the Hub, click on the file and it will open correctly. The project files were I have not done this will still not open correctly and trigger the new project dialogue as before.

When starting Cubase with preferences disabled, the recent projects view on Hub is now completely empty.

[BTW the only other factor I can throw in is that my project files are saved in an iCloud Drive folder synced from another machine, but effectively just another Windows folder]

The recent files list is just a simple list of the file paths of files last saved by Cubase on that exact machine.

Yes, so it shouldn’t stop the files from opening. The paths I can see are exact and correct.

Hm. Is it this issue?

It’s not quite that issue but it’s got me to a temporary solution: on the Hub/Project Assistant panel, if I arrow to one of the recent projects and press enter, it opens fine. If I mouse click on the recent project, wait a second, then double click, it opens fine. However, if I double click directly on the recent project then it fails (even though this works fine on my desktop). Is this a preference issue or a defect in the Hub panel maybe?

If I uncheck “Use Hub” in Preferences then I get exactly the issue you linked to.

Defect. I Reported it a while back. I just stay on the keyboard As you are doing
