Recommend audio interface and mixing hardware

Hi, I want to record the MIDI output from a real synth in Cubase.

  1. I guess I need an audio interface: could you recommend me one
that works fine with Cubase and Mac? I have a Behringer UMC-22 but
I wasn’t able to make it work.

  2. Any guide or link for the setup and cables needed will help. I have USB output.

  3. For mixing what would you recommend too? Something affordable.

I have a MODX that in some way you can record but the WAV sound I get in the mix turns out to be awful. I prefer to record every channel clean.

Thanks!

Are you recording audio or MIDI? If MIDI, the UMC-22 doesn’t have a MIDI input.

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4. Works well. I’m on Windows… I don’t know MAC.

While a decent interface for audio and midi is for sure ok (even small behringer ones are working fine) you seem to have an issue with the USB output from the MODX! There is absolutely NO audio quality issue or midi issue with the Steinberg-Yamaha USB-driver. I suggest you dig deeper into that issue!
