Hey,
I just started working with Cubase and wanted to try record audio using my Macbook’s internal microphone.
I tried multiple configurations I found online but whenever I try to record it doesn’t pick up anything.
I set the audio connection to receive input from the built in audio device, tried using stereo and mono.
Also made sure in the Studio Setup that i’m using the built in audio and the microphone is enabled. (Moreover I can see in the computer’s top bar that the microphone is active).
But then when I try to record in a new track (The last one in the image), I don’t get any input.
Does anyone know what might be the issue?
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Make sure Cubase has enabled Mic in the System Preferences, please.
Open macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Enable Cubase here.
@Martin.Jirsak - Thanks for the reply.
Cubase has permission to use the microphone.
Any additional suggestions?
Hi,
You should probably use a Mono Audio Track, if you want to use only one source.
I can also see some Solo and Mute tracks. Make sure, your track has not been muted.
Firstly, as mentioned I did try both stereo and mono.
After putting the Macbook to sleep and returning to it after a few hours, it suddenly works, both stereo and mono.
Just to add that initially I also tried doing the same with a new project and it did not work, but now it does.
Unfortunately I don’t understand what was the issue, but it is now resolved, thanks a lot! @Martin.Jirsak
Update:
I was initially working with the Macbook lid closed, connected to external monitors, I now think the issue is that for some reason the internal microphone did not work when the lid was closed.
When I returned after a few hours I worked directly and the Macbook and this might be the reason it worked.
Now when I test again I can confirm it does not work when the lid is closed.
