Recording Audio input levels

So I typically open an audio track and record: vocal, guitar, whatever. My recording level is at the default level. I am using an audio interface (iTrack dock) with its levels set like I typically use for other daws. To me, things sound to “full” and loud but my levels and waveforms are fine and show no clipping. My question: does Cubasis (1,2 or 3, I’ve has all) record hotter than other DAW’s? To my ears, it’s not really a hotter sound, it’s a “fuller” sound, like there’s no space for other instruments.
Anyone want to provide some perspective on this?
