I’m experiencing something strange here. I have a mono track in Cubase and the fader is set to zero. I’m gain staging my guitar playing through an Axe Fx iii going from the output via an XLR cable into my interface (Audient EVO 16) and it’s clipping the interface before the meter shows any clipping in Cubase. Why are the meters different? I’m on Post Panner metering and I have no plugins on the Input channel or the actual audio track. Do you know what I’m missing here?
The meters you should be using are the ones on your interface and not Cubase. Any gain should be adjusted i]on the interface.
The meters should match. I’m not familiar with your interface but I see it comes with a software mixer app - EVO Mixer. What differences in dB do you see between the EVO Mixer and the Cubase’s input channel?
So, there seems to be like a 6 or so dB difference between Cubase and the actual EVO mixer.
Does the EVO mixer display peak levels? I ask because I use an RME interface and its mixer shows RMS levels on the meter.
In TotalMix the meters show both RMS and peak. (The thin yellow line is peak.) The numerical display can be toggled to show either peak or RMS.
