Migrating from PC Cubase 10.5 to MacBook M4 and Cubase 14 Pro with UR22C interface. While setting up Cubase I have attempted every option I know to try including replacing the interface (I thought I got a faulty used one on Amazon so replaced it with new with same results). The audio input levels look and sound good in the interface and in Cubase, they just don’t record well. Tried varying buffer size, added every permission I could think of in Sequoia 15.4.1 with no luck. Cubase loads MP3 files in audio tracks and plays them fine. I have reviewed numerous videos and guides and have concluded that there is a setting I have inadvertently tripped that is messing up the signal. I have not reloaded Cubase or the dspMixFx software yet because everything else works fine. What am I missing? Any leads or assistance would be very much appreciated.
It’s hard to say what’s going on. You really haven’t told any of the steps you do before or while recording. How does the waveform look after recording since it “looks and sounds good” on the way in?
This is the result of strumming chords on guitar; silence with bursts of static at the point of hitting the chords.
Have you turned on the Hi-Z switch? Or accidently turned it off?
Have you tried different sockets/cables connecting the UR22C to the computer?
This is where I’d focus my attention.
Oh, and welcome to the community! LOL!
Hi-Z switch is on at each attempt. I have tried cabling directly from UR22C to laptop and running through a CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 Dock and both appear to work with all other processes except recording live audio.
I have tried two different cables as well.
Thanks for the welcome, any good will is appreciated in my trying time
BTW, mic recordings act the same way.
I had an issue with bad distortion after getting Elements 13 , turned out it was the UR22 driver , you might want to update that if not already and see if that helps .
Thanks. I’ll reload a fresh version and see.
Unfortunately, same issue remains.
Would it seem reasonable at this point to uninstall and reinstall Cubase and UR22C software?
Possibly , I’m using a pc and have no experience with a mac . I had audio dropouts for an eternity , multiple online sessions with Steinberg . Tried everything i could do to solve it . No one ever said anything about disabling the internet and wifi adapters , problem solved . Might want to request a remote session with Steinberg , their likely able to sort it out . And keep in mind the wifi , internet aspect. I only turn it on for updates or downloads . Have another computer for everything else .
Thanks so much! Will do on Monday.
The recordings look fine to me. are you sure you have the correct settings on the playback, I see your project is 44.1 - is your audio interface also on that? I have no idea what the problem is. Honestly, I don’t even understand what your problem is exactly. Maybe a video would shine a light on your issues
Possibly, the “Noise Reduction” is enabled in your Mac’s audio settings. You should disable it.
Someone in another topic had the same issue.
