Recording out of sync cub13

so i started a new project
created an audio track
set a 4/4 tempo
then recorded the metronome ( no plugins )
this is the result

whats going on
thanks reg

after messing with different interfaces it seems the biggest error
occurs with a behringer uca202 usb using gereric drivers ( as in prev pic )
an audiophile 2496 with m-audio drivers has no errors
so it seems a soundcard/driver issue

OBSERVATION : you’d have thought tho , that if it was a latency issue that the recording would be behind . . not in front of the source sound???
thanks reg

You can correct the offset induced by the audio interface in the Studio Setup dialog.

thanks for the info
it needed -1200 samples to sync it
cheers

I’m having this exact issue in Cubase 13 with my UR44C. Insane that this is happening with their own hardware!
Is there an actual fix for this, or do we have to determine what the offset reverse latency is and manually adjust for it?

It’s very common with many interfaces that latency reporting is a little bit out. (and so correction using the reported latency is misplacing audio)
If it’s less than 100 samples or so that’s likely all it is. It’s small enough to not to cause an audible problem.
Other things have been known to affect the record offset by larger amounts…stuff like laptop wi-fi for example…though I’ve seen less reports of this in recent years.

So yes, you have to measure with a loopback test and enter into the record offset.

Interesting, it feels like this just started happening too. I’m a little surprised that Steinberg’s own hardware is off. Thanks
