I use a Macbook Pro with RME Babyface, and am recording electric guitar and using only headphones for monitoring.
When not recording I can hear the guitar, but when recording, the sound cuts out. This is a particular problem when adding tracks, as I can only hear previously recorded tracks through my headphones. How can I set things up to hear both?
Enable monitoring on the track you’re recording. It’s the small round button with a speaker icon. It turns orange when enabled.
If it’s enabled, the track outputs whatever is present at the input (your playing). If it’s disabled, the track will output whatever is recorded onto it.
Thank you. I had been doing that, but for some reason, it wasn’t working. When I went back to it, it worked correctly. I don’t know why. Maybe restarting everything made the difference.
