Recording VST output?

With Reaper 4 I can record the output from a VST eg. Guitar Rig, POD Farm etc,… I want to be able to remove the plugin after recording my track as to avoid CPU usage.

Is there a way to do this this with Cubase 5 without using the freeze option?

Yes, and it´s called “recording from busses”, or via “export audio mixdown”

Either Export Audio Mixdown of just that track or record realtime via a group or dummy output to an audiotrack if you run the ful version.
