I’m using the “pppppp” and “ppppp” dynamics to represent the symbols for “mfp” and “m”, graphically. However, when they play back they of course play as if the dynamics were pppppp and ppppp. Is there any way to redefine the individual values of these dynamics so that they are at least audible? When I try to adjust the curve it gets even worse.
I’m not sure I understand:
do you use “pppppp” “technically only” without displaying them in the score? Or does the score not matter in this case?
Graphics:
Here is how to create “mfp”:
If this is needed often, you can copy it to other places with alt/option-click, or create a script for it.
I’m not sure about the meaning of a single “m”, so I didn’t try for now.
Playback:
You could create a playing technique for your special cases.
The thing is that I don’t want “mf-p”. I need “mfp”, without the hyphen. There’s no way to get the “mf-p” to look right (the kerning) unless I replace one of the existing dynamics with a new glyph (or combination of glyphs). So what I do is I type in “pppppp” in the popover to get it to show “mfp”. I’m not desperate for perfect playback, but it would be nice to be able to do this and have the playback not be at pppppp!
But you can write mfp - I demonstrated this above.
Ah, ok - kerning…
As a last resort, perhaps, one could use “suppress playback” in the Properties panel to avoid having the music fade out altogether. Then one might also be able to adjust volume/velocity manually in the key editor to compensate.
