Is there a way to place rehearsal marks in the middle of a bar?
Is there an option to change them all at once?

Is there any specific reason why you just don’t try this kind of things, and only ask on the forum if it doesn’t work?
Do you know Dorico has a nice Manual, in which you can search?
Searching for rehearsal marks gives you within the first few hits options for
And there are nice options in Engraving Options too
Each rehearsal mark is positioned wherever you choose to place it.
No need to go to engrave mode.
Just put the caret where you want to insert it and press shift-A
Or select a note …
But I agree with the manual
By default, rehearsal marks are positioned above barlines and to the right of clefs or key signatures at the start of systems. Although you can input rehearsal marks at rhythmic positions within a bar in Dorico Pro, this is not common practice
What would the Orchestra do when the conductor says: we start at rehearsal mark A
The orchestra will play from the second part of the bar?
Got it. Thanks for your reply.
I was still editing my post when you replied.
Why? Wouldn’t it just be a source of confusion during rehearsals?
But YOU positioned them on the barlines in the first place!!!
(To be helpful: Select all, filter (select)>Rehearsal marks, move them all with alt-arrow. This will work if all bars are the same length)
I’m not at my computer right now, but I think there’s a filter function which you can use (Edit->Filter->Rehearsal marks) to select them all at once. I’m not a manual reader myself so I’d rather ask the AI and if that fails then I ask here as that’s what this forum is for.
EDIT: I missed the information Janus already gave.
In other words you (mis)use the forum to train AI.
What a strange world and what a strange concept: You ask AI, then let real compassionate users think, let them provide a solution - and thus train the AI.
Apparently I do, although I must in all honesty say I have absolutely no idea what you mean regarding the training of AI. Train it how, how exactly is it taking what away from the extremely compassionate users and so what?
I thought the procedure regarding questions in this forum goes as follows:
Person A posts a question. Person B either answers or not, regardless of whether person A asked the same question from AI, their professor, their mother or a clairvoyant. Person A thanks for the help they got and both go on their merry ways. Am I misunderstanding something?
Interesting subject, but I find it hard to believe that the various LLMs train on this forum unless you instruct them to do just that. Or maybe I have that completely wrong ![]()
For instance, posing the OP’s question:
In Dorico, Is there a way to place rehearsal marks in the middle of a bar? Is there an option to change them all at once?
The start of Copilots answer is:
Short answer
Yes, you can place rehearsal marks visually in the middle of a bar in Dorico.
No, you cannot change their rhythmic attachment globally — Dorico always anchors rehearsal marks to the start of a bar.
You can change their appearance or default offset globally, but not their rhythmic position.
…which, as the forum is “aware” of, is the wrong answer.
I hope you are right. But sometimes I fear that some users on this forum aren’t users in real life, but AI agents just posting here in order to train.
I even tried to find a way to hide those users, and to automatically mute threads started by them, but didn’t succeed.
I have fun in trying to help people with their dorico challenges, while educating myself, but I see no fun in correcting AI’s hallucinations
