Hi, I have to do some vocal recording in my home studio every now and then, but unfortunately the neighbors are getting a little annoyed by it, so I’m looking for an alternative. I have Cubase 14 Pro, which comes with Connect SE built in.
I could record some vocals at the office after work, but Cubase is installed on my powerful desktop PC, not on my laptop, and I don’t want to have to manage yet another Cubase installation on my office laptop because of all the plugin management involved.
So here’s my idea:
I’ll leave the computer running at home and set up a remote desktop connection to it from the office. I’ll install Connect SE on my laptop at the office, and all I’ll need to bring is my microphone (a Shure MV7 with a built-in USB interface). Then I can control Cubase 14 via remote desktop and record using Connect SE.
Has anyone ever tried something like this? Or will it just not work? It’s kind of like Connect, except that I don’t have anyone sitting at the Cubase end—I’m just remotely controlling the computer, right?
