Render Second Pass For Exporting Seamless Audio Loops

I’ve always immediately wondered “by whose measure?” whenever I’ve read that. To me, it seems like the games industry has been mostly Reaper for several years now, minus a few outliers. The middleware support is much more comprehensive for sure. What you don’t get in the Reaper OOBE is a standardized experience and other desirable features Steinberg offers (Atmos et al)—but the lack of a second-pass render in 2024 is a total showstopper for me.

Reaper even works on Linux. With Valve dropping support for macOS in terms of Steam, and the Steam Deck being Linux based, I can’t help but feel that Cubendo is feeling very archaic relative to modern workflows for games. That isn’t to say you can’t get good results, of course you can, and people have, but the goalposts are ever-moving.

Does anyone know if this has been added in Cubase 14?

I didn’t see it but as more of a game audio feature i’m hoping maybe Nuendo 14 may include this.

If not, that Steinberg continues to bang on about game audio so much in the marketing materials is absolutely baffling.

Reaper already has the perfect solution, come on, Steinberg!

yeah I was really really hoping for this. Solution is to use render in place and then export those instead. However I still don’t use that method that much so 2nd pass would be ideal.

Not using the workaround is understandable! If you need to provide progress updates regularly across a several hour score, the wasted time is considerable. It feels so convoluted and archaic. If Steinberg is serious about game audio, they need to get this sorted. Love a lot of what else Nuendo does, but this is such a deal breaker at present versus Reaper and the huge number of ReaScripts available for stuff way beyond even this in terms of saving time. But you know, Reaper doesn’t do some of what Nuendo does, so it would be very nice of Steinberg pulled their finger out after all these years of waiting for the next version to hopefully include it.
