Rendering in Nuendo 13 is unbelievably, untenably slow. To render a 5.1 version of a 1.20 hour film is taking about 5 hours. All I am trying to render are already rendered 5.1 stems bought together from various projects, no plugins, no sidechain, nothing extra only sound files. Starts off OK and then just grinds down to an unbelievably slow rate. It’s crap and I cannot work like this. Currently my CPU is on about 27%, GPU 17%. Not sure if this is relevant but looking at the 24 logical processors my computer has 4 of them maxed out whereas the others appear to be idling. some of the LP are ‘parked’ and others are not if that means anything. Has anyone any suggestions on optimising Nuendo for rendering. I have not been able to find anything on this. Very frustrating Thanks
That’s weird and not normal behaviour for N13. Some questions first:
What kind of system are you running? Do you have enough free disk space? Are you rendering to a fast disk (SSD) or a network location (a NAS)?
How many tracks?
Hi klfnk,
Yeah I know, what is going on. Only 10 tracks of pre-rendered audio onto a 3.1 USB SSD. No plugins, nothing that would slow it down but today I learned an important lesson that I am very happy to share with everyone al though I am sure some people know about this… I got in my IT guy to take a look. The issue was my CPU was overheating due to it’s fan being on a slow speed setting. Despite being in aircon and a stand up fan blowing away the CPU was protecting itself as it was so hot thus working really slowly. My IT guy turned on the fan in bios to max and boom a render went from 5 hours to 8 minutes. I have never come across this before, never appreciated the effect something like this would have. The lesson to be learned is if your computer has turned into something from 1998 check your CPU temperature and if it is hot, do something about it and be amazed. I think it’s time for liquid cooling.
